Aisling Annacotty Weekly Newsletter

A Team

Our A team had a great win away to Janesboro in the Munster Junior Cup. The teams were tied at 4 all at full time. Aisling Annacotty winning in sudden death penalty shoot-out.

Junior C Team

The C team had a tricky away trip to Meanus Sunday morning coming out eventual 1-0 winners.
The only goal of the game came from John Dunne in his first game back after 2 months being out from injury. While Meanus put up a strong fight, the ever fearless back four of Harry Healy, Damien Patten, Denis Barrett and Seamus Kenny proved too tough to break down with keeper Josh Daly only having to make one save in the match making it 2 clean sheets on the bounce.
There were spirited performances right across the team with Gavin Byrnes putting on another man of the match performance showing true leadership and why he is captain this season.
The win sees the team in 3rd place in the league after 8 games having won 4 altogether and drawn one.
Congratulations to all involved in the game where the spirit and passion for team and club was evident throughout.

Girls U16

Aisling Annacotty ran out 4-0 winners against Ballylanders in the second round of the league on Sun Oct 2nd.  2 first half goals by Laoise hAodha put Aisling in command. The second half was a tight affair with both teams creating chances, however Aisling proved too strong in the end and 2 late goals by Rachel O Dell and Emma Donohoe secured the win. Fine performances by Abby McCarthy and Sarah Cleary in defence ensured that Ballylanders were kept at by throughout.

Boys U15A

U15A: Our U15As continued their National Cup run with an excellent performance away to a strong Granville side. Taking control of the game early in midfield we raced into a commanding 3-0 half time lead with goals from Dara Costelloe (2) and Sean O’Shea. Our hosts came back into it in the second half but a fine free kick from Jack Foley, his first competitive goal for the club, put the result beyond doubt. More goals followed late on from Paul Brennan, Sean O’Shea and a fine James Collopy header just before the end helped us to run out convincing winners.

Boys U13A

Aisling Annacotty Under 13 As have made a storming start to the 2016/17 season. Three league victories from three matches scoring 23 goals saw us go into our first national cup match of the season in great form. The under 13s travelled to Rathkeale last Saturday for a 1pm kickoff in perfect conditions on an excellent pitch. Aisling Annacotty started the match at full tempo and were 2 nil up after 4 minutes following a brace of goals from Darragh Murray. Aisling Annacotty dominated possession with Leon Kirrane, Mark Murphy, Colm Lenihan and John Ryan well on top in midfield. When our defence came under attack the young Rathkeale players found Darren Nwankwo, Finn Durack and Ben Hayes to be in top form to snuff out any threat. Aisling Annacotty ran out very easy winners against what turned out to be a very young Rathkeale team with Darragh Murray and John Ryan scoring 5 goals each, Paul Maloney scored 2 goals and Conal O Duinn and Finn Durack got a goal each. Following this win Aisling Annacotty will now host Mungret Regional in the next round of the Cup. Under 13 A squad for National Cup Match v Rathkeale -Stephen Kiely, Muiris O'Dalaigh, John Ryan, Darragh Murray,Ben Hayes, Alex Carragher, Finn Durack, Mark Kinsella, Stephen Oyadeji, Mark Murphy,Leon Kirrane, Darren Nwankwo, Conall O'Duinn, Paul Maloney, Colm Lenihan, Ryan Beni Djiopang, Ciaran Coulter.
