Boys U12 and U14 SFAI National Cup

It was a tough day for both our U12 and U14 teams last Saturday. Both teams exited the competition, the under 12’s going out to St Brendan’s Park, Tralee and the Under 14’s losing out to Tulla of Clare.

Girls U12

Eight of our Aisling U12s represented Monaleen on Sunday in the Community Games U13 Futsal County Championships. The girls played brilliant football in all their games and even won a playoff penalty shootout to reach the semi-final. They were unlucky to lose to a strong Bruff team but finished very strongly in their last game to convincingly take third place over all. Super achievement as most of these girls will be eligible for this event again next year. TEAM: Isabelle O'Riardon. Sarah Collins, Ciara Nolan, Rebecca Shinnors, Isabelle Watanabe, Laurn Conway, Isabella Collins, Ellie Madden.

Girls U18

Aisling 7 – 0 Ballylanders

On Sun 27th Nov Aisling ran out comfortable winners against Ballylanders to continue their unbeaten run and stay top in the LWSSL U18s league. A couple of early strikes from Aisling Kennedy  playing in an unaccustomed strikers role, set the tone for the game. Taylor McEvoy, Niamh O Byrne, Claire Kelly & Aoife O Driscoll controlled midfield throughout the first half, with Claire scoring twice to run up a 4-0 lead by half time. In the second half Emma Donohoe and Nicole Lammond extended the lead, and we continued our dominance across all areas. Jade O Connor and Shalini Kujur were strong in defence and our youngest players Sarah Cleary and Abby McCarthy grew into the game and showed great maturity in good pressing and passing play linking well with their midfield and forwards. Niamh O Byrne scored a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area late in the game to complete the scoring.

Next up is a top of the table clash v Regional in two weeks.

Aisling Girls Feature in LWSSL U18s Squad

No less than 5 players have been selected in the LWSSL U18s squad which started their inter-league campaign recently. Claire Kelly captained the side which included Niamh O Byrne and Nicole Lammond in their first match against Wexford (see match report here on Limerick FC website). Emma Donohoe and Charlie Hanrahan, both coming back from injury, will join the squad in the new year. With the form of our U18s it wouldn't be a surprise if one or two more girls got the call up before the season is out.
