Aisling Annacotty Under 12 A’s (Double Champions 2016)
There was double delight for our Under 12 A team who completed the double this season by winning both the LDSL Under 12 Premier League and Under 12 Premier Cup. The Under 12 Premier Cup was won last Friday evening when Aisling Annacotty prevailed in Extra Time against Mungret Regional to win 2-0 in what was a very even and well contested Final. Both sides played very positive and fair football and there was nothing to separate the teams in normal time. Stephen Kiely kept Aisling in the tie with some great goal keeping and his heroics in goals were matched by the Mungret Keeper who denied Aisling on a number of occasions. In extra time with both teams tiring it was Aisling who had a little more in the tank and two late goals by Finn Durack and Darragh Murray were enough to give Aisling the Cup and avoid the lottery of a penalty shoot-out.
Aisling Annacotty 12 As can now reflect on a very successful season where they were undefeated in the League and Cup in Limerick and their only competitive defeat this season was in the last 16 of the National Cup against St Kevins. Much credit for this success goes to a fine talented group of young players but the coaching team of Anthony O’Neill and Robin O’Day deserve great credit for developing the team this season and bringing the group forward with their advanced coaching techniques and introducing a very attractive brand of football to this age group.
The Under 12 A’s Double Winning Squad for season 2015/16 comprised of the following players; Alex Carragher, Mark Kinsella, Muiris O’Dalaigh, Ben Hayes, Stephen Kiely, Darren Nwankwo, Jack Ryan, Joe Fitzgerald, Anthony O’Neill (Coach). Sean O’hAodha, Matthew Carroll, Oisin O’Connor, John Ryan (Capt.), Darragh Murray, Oisin Williams, Finn Durack, Stephen Oydajei, Robin O’Day (Coach)
Under 14D Season Review
The team made fantastic progress this season winning 5 and drawing 1 of the 9 league matches they played. Competing in a 6 team league, the boys recorded great victories against Summerville Rovers (twice), Regional United (twice) and Corbally United. There was also a stirring comeback to secure an encouraging draw against Mungret Regional. The team scored 33 goals including 10 goals in one match. The boys played with fantastic skill, determination and spirit in each match. The progress made this year under the guidance of dedicated coaches John Henry and Pat Mulkern will encourage the team to believe that promotion is a real possibility next season. Well done to all the players and coaches on a great season and we look forward to seeing you all again next season in our new team gear after a well-deserved break.
