Getting kids active with Youth Athletic Development camps
During the month of August 2016, Setanta College, in partnership with McDonalds Limerick, ran two Youth Athletic Development camps, each a week in duration, for children between the ages of 4 and 12 at Aisling Annacotty AFC and Garryowen Rugby Club. Approximately 200 children attended with the proceeds going directly to both clubs. The camps, the first of their kind in Ireland, were run by Setanta College staff who hold professional coaching qualifications in youth development and movement skills. The coaches are trained to observe the movement patterns and movement skills of children, which allow them to focus on bespoke drills, fun games and activities to enhance mobility. These general observations will be sent back to the clubs. To encourage children to become more active and give parents, teachers and coaches the skills to continue the principles applied in the camps Setanta College has created a two week online programme called Movement Skills and Fitness Development with a focus on the child. Last Man Standing
Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea let a lot of us down at the weekend. Their draw to Swansea saw quite a few fall out of the LMS. Best of luck to everyone left standing, pick wisely this weekend!
A-team
The team had a great 2-1 win against Ballynanty Rovers in Annacotty. Keith Mawdsley and Gustavo the goal scorers.
Last night the team were unlucky going down 0-1 to Pike Rovers. Pike scoring a second half penalty.
U15A
U15A Premier Team: Our first home league game of the season pitted us against our main rivals from last year, Regional. This turned out to be a high quality game played in a good spirit and at a high tempo. We started brightly and after some lovely football, Paul Brennan played Rory Murphy in to give us the lead after 10 minutes. Regional clawed their way back and the sides were level at half time. The pace of the game began to tell on the tiring visitors in the second half and Dara Costelloe latched onto a pass from Caimin Ayres to restore our advantage. Back came Regional again to tie things up but before the end Dara Costelloe nipped in again to give us a deserved winner. Next up is a National Cup assignment away to Rearcross.
U14A
Our U14A team won 4-1 last week against Newport. Adam Cummins scored 2, Eoghan Burke and Dara Hough the others. They were back in action on Saturday away to Fairview Rangers, winning 4-2. This time Adam Cummins scoring all 4.
Under 12 Girls
