Last Man Standing

We have a winner!! Well done to Emmet on lasting the pace to become the last man standing. Thanks to Watford winning and Manchester United and Tottenham failing to win saw Emmet declared as the winner all right. Thanks to Mark for organising the competition and we are all looking forward to the next instalment.

U12 Girls

A good day for the U12 Girls last week with a 5-0 away win to Regional Utd in the LCDUL Prem League. After the disappointment of a loss to Holycross in our last outing the girls put this behind them and played some great football, defending strong, passing the ball well and scoring some great goals. Thanks to Chloe Widger playing her first game in goals and saving a penalty to ensure a clean sheet on the day.

Team:Chloe Widger, Isabelle O'Riardon, Sarah Collins, Niamh Brennan, Robyn McDarby, Bella Collins, Laurn Conway, Emily O'Loughlin, Rachel Widger, Rebecca Shinners (Capt)

Scorers: Bella (1), Robyn (2), Rebecca (2).

U12A Boys

Aisling Annacotty under 12’s travelled out to Killaloe on Saturday to play Lough Derg in the SFAI National Cup. The boys had a great win against competent opposition. Scorers included Donnacha O’Leary, Arron Hough, Daniel Walker and Davy Brennan.

Under 16 B

The U16Bs had a very competitive match against Corbally and played some
excellent football both in attack and defence to come away with a 3-3 draw. Corbally had the best of the opening exchanges and cut through on goal a few times but failed to capitalise. The defence tightened up and Aisling got their foot on the ball and built some moves of their own which led to a good David McMahon cross being deflected into the goal by a Corbally defender to give Aisling the only goal of the half. Early in the second half, Corbally levelled the game, but then Stewart Bradshaw scored a lovely solo effort to restore Aisling's lead. Half way through the second half, Niall McGrath pressurised and dispossessed the 'keeper, laid off to Barry Sutton who crossed to a gleeful Robbie Donegan who rattled the ball home from close range.

Aisling carried this 3-1 lead late into the game, hugely helped by Donnacha O'Dalaigh's commanding display in goal. The defence was also saved by centre-half Ciaran Vaughan with a lightning fast intervention when a Corbally goal seemed inevitable. Barry Sutton put in a great display on the right wing, always on the ball and causing trouble for Corbally. Late on the momentum was fully with the home team and they struck for two late goals to have the match finish all square. Harshly for Aisling, the last goal came well into injury time, so victory was tugged away right at the end.

The players have been improving quickly over the last few weeks’ thanks to their own efforts at training sessions under the guidance of Stephen Walsh.

Two weeks ago the team went down to defeat against Star Rovers, while in the previous fixture, the team recorded a 4-2 win over Mungret, with goals from Stewart Bradshaw (2), Mark Kelly and Niall McGrath.

U13 Boys
Aisling Annacotty 13 A's followed up on their great start to the season with a hard fought league win against a very strong Fairview side who were unbeaten in the league going into this match. A well-coached Fairview side were set up to defend this record and Annacotty struggled to break them down in the first half however we did have a few chances to grab the lead with Darragh Murray heading narrowly wide from a John Ryan cross and John himself drilling a good chance narrowly wide. The goals came in the second half with John Ryan scoring from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the box and in the move of the match Darragh Murray put Stephen Oyadeji through to score a wonderful goal. Mark Murphy and Leon Kirrane were bossing midfield at this stage and dominating possession however Aisling conceded against the run of play to set up a nervous last 5 mins. However it was Aisling who scored next when Conal O'Duinn scored to secure the points and great defending from Ben Hayes and Darren Nwankwo ensured it finished 3-1.

In what was a great weekend for Aisling Annacotty Under 13 teams who all won our 13 B Team recorded a 5-1 away win to Summerville Rovers  in Division 1 and they currently sit top of the league table and the Under 13 C team playing in the Division Two League had a great 3-1 win playing at home against Fairview Rangers B.
Well done to all the lads in our Under 13 teams.
