Under 13 Cup matches

Aisling Annacotty A 5 – 1 Caherdavin Celtic

Following the disappointment of dropping points to Caherdavin in the league last Friday evening in a dour 1-1 draw our 13 A'S were back in Caherdavin on Monday evening for the quarter final of the Cup. With the lessons learned from Friday the lads tore into the game with a much higher intensity determined to match the larger and more physical Caherdavin Team. A very poor playing surface at Greenhills made the normal Annacotty passing game difficult and a more direct play style was required and we were rewarded mid way through the first half win John Ryan finished to the corner of the net following an exquisite through ball from Leon Kirrane. The second half resumed with Annacotty well on top and goals followed very quickly when both Paul Maloney and Darragh Murray both scored from excellent passes from John Ryan. Caherdavin got a goal back from a thunderbolt of a shot that flew into the top corner of the net however it was Annacotty that finished strongest with late goals from John Ryan and Darragh Murray for a resounding 5-1 win. On a night when serious questions were been asked about this team Leon Kirrane in Midfield and Ben Hayes in defence gave man of the match performances.

Aisling Annacotty 13 B 6 – 0 Lisnagry FC

Aisling Annacotty U13B team played Lisnagry FC in the LDSL Division 1 Cup on Monday night and earned a well-deserved victory.  Aisling were on top from the kick off and had 3 goals netted by half time and continued in a similar fashion in the second half to come home resounding winners 6-0.  A great team performance overall with every player giving 100% and Donnacha O’Leary scored an excellent hat-trick. The other goal scorers were Evan Jenkins, Sam Flynn and Arron Haugh. The management team will be hoping this good form continues as this team is through to the semi-final of the Lions Cup where they will play Portlaoise in Annacotty on Wednesday evening in the semi-final of The Lions Cup.

Aisling Annacotty C 10 – 0 Newport FC B

The U13c team had an emphatic win over Newport in the quarter final of the league cup. Aisling were straight out of the blocks when Darren Dazie scored in the second minute finishing off a sweet move created by Conor Gavin. Darren only had to wait 90 seconds for his second, Newport were reeling and found themselves three down in less than ten minutes when Michal Kornacki put his name on the score sheet. Aisling continued to dominate the game until half time with further goals from Darren Dazie, Michal Kornacki, Aidan Williams and Conor Treacy to lead 7-0 at half time.

Aisling prepared themselves for a strong show from Newport in the second half, having lost both home and away in the league to Newport. Newport came out strong and threw attack after attack but the defence held strong with a few fine saves from Shane Twomey. Ten minutes into the second half Darren Dazie broke through the last man and finished off his fourth of the evening. Mark Donaghey finished beautifully into the far corner for the ninth after a fine move set up by man of the match Conor Gavin who seemed to be everywhere and was unfortunate not to score.

This was a great performance by all. Well done.
