Match reports

OurA team had a 3-2 win over Charleville AFC. Jack Cleary scored the winner in added time!

The U16B go the season off to a flying start, with a goal in the opening three minutes of each of their first two matches, against Regional United and Aisling’s U16C team.

Regional held Aisling scoreless for the remainder of the first half, but couldn’t stick with the pace and movement of the Annacotty side in the second half.

The second match, a most local of derbies against friends and neighbours – all clubmates –  was a different affair with the B team unstoppable in the opening twenty minutes but their opponents finishing stronger with three superb strikes from Diro Lawal (2) and Jamie McNamara.  Strong performers for the 16Cboys included Liam Dillon, Moses Adewale and Meriese Tulloch, with Oran Morley pulling off some fine save in goal. Scoring in the first week for 16B team were Colm Mohally, Eoin O’Sullivan, Danny Lipper, Jeffrey Hogan, Eoghan O’Driscoll, Perry Ndip, Peter Donohoe and Alan Conway.

Aisling Annacotty afc send a sixth adult team into battle this season.  More proof of the achievements of club’s underage structure, as players pour through from the Youth ranks.  The bulk of four of the teams is made of players who have graduated from the U18s in the last three years.  More than ten players who have yet to reach twenty years represent the club’s senior women’s and men’s teams each week.

That sixth team, the men’s Junior Es, had a tough introduction, acquitting themselves admirably in their opening games against the two favourites for promotion.  Emmet McGinty and Luke Connell scoring two fine goals in the process.

The third game was a fairer match-up against a Murroe team, featuring some Ailsing graduates of their own.  Michael Griffin and Sean Riordan, ghosting in from their respective wings, supplied neat finishes to crosses from McGinty.  Sam Costelloe netted a third with a fierce, low strike from outside the box.  Aisling were secure at the back.  Ishaan Conroy, making his debut at junior level, and Robert Maleady excelled, while Oisin Hayes made an excellent save to keep Murroe at arm’s length. Aisling ran out 3-1 winners to get the first valued points in the life of the team on the board.

Aisling Annacotty Under 14A started the league on Saturday when they welcomed newly promoted Newport to Annacotty. Having lost a few players over the summer our new look team started the match at lightening pace and were 2-0 up at half time following two goals from Donnacha O'Leary.
We lost our momentum in the second half and let Newport back into the Game and they took this opportunity very well to score two goals to secure a 2 – 2 draw. Next up for the 14 As is an away trip to Mungret next Saturday.
