Match Reports
Aisling Annacotty 3-1 Regional Utd
Our U18 girls bagged three points against one of the league’s top teams, in a high-quality game this Sunday. First-half chances came from a neat flick by Aisling Kennedy, a cross from the right from Aisling Doran, and some fine through balls from Emma Costelloe and Sarah Hall. However, the teams came in scoreless at half-time. Things heated up shortly after though, as Regional took the lead through Laura Lyons, who got in behind the defence and coolly finished from 16 yards. Some quick adjustments from team management saw Jade O’Connor and Charlie Hanrahan close off any further incursions through the middle, and freed up Alicia O’Callaghan to raid continuously from the left back position. Emma Donohoe moved to the right wing, allowing her to cut in on her left foot, and suddenly we were a dif-ferent proposition. With Emma Costelloe pulling the strings in midfield, Annacotty put some fine passing moves together, resulting in chances for Nicole Lammond (saved by the keeper) and Laoise Ní Aodha (deflected over following a neat drag back). The pressure told eventu-ally, when Emma Costelloe whipped in a free-kick from the left, and Rachel O’Dell got the deftest of touches to claim her third headed goal in two games. With the bit between their teeth, the second goal was not long in coming, and a fine goal it was. Sarah Cleary sent a 50 yard pass down the line for Donohoe, who raced on to it and angled a beautiful cross with the outside of her boot, which was dispatched to the net by Ní Aodha with a one-touch left-footed finish. Regional fought hard to regain the initiative, but were denied by an excellent defence, marshalled by captain Bronagh Kelly, and goalie Abby McCarthy. The game was put to bed, when Ní Aodha was put through one-on-one with the keeper, and calmly picked her spot, this time with her right foot.

Aisling Annacotty Under 14 A
The under 14 A team negotiated a tricky away assignment in the SFAI Sketchers National Cup at Killavilla United of Roscrea last week. The home side was well up for this match and in the early exchanges were the equal of Annacotty however after some controlled build-up we opened the scoring after 15 minutes through Donnacha O'Leary. For the next 15 minutes we were in control but in two crazy minutes before half time we scored a second goal and conceded almost immediately to leave the half time score 2-1.
The second half was a physical and robust affair and it was Annacotty who extended their lead to run out 3-1 winners. Goal Scorers for Aisling Annacotty were Donnacha O'Leary with two and Mark Murphy with a goal from an excellent free kick. Ben Hayes, Ryan Beni Dji-opang, Darragh Murray and Mark Murphy all put in strong performances for Aisling Annacotty.
