Second half goals from Pat O’Kane and an Alan Nicholas scorcher secured three points after Athlunkard took the lead on the 20-minute mark. Eoin Fahey preserving the lead with a point blank save in the last minute from an excellent Athlunkard Villa move where they swept the ball from defence to attack in four passes.

Our U15Ateam returned to League action on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Mungret. Despite a heavy pitch the home side played some very attractive football but having squandered some early chances found themselves behind having failed to deal with a corner from the visitors. An immediate response saw Christopher Nwanko upended in the Mungret area and Chris dusted himself off to coolly slot the first of 2 penalties, the second given for a foul on Eoghan Burke following a strong run into the penalty area. However, the best moment of the first half was yet to come when following a splendid interchange between Kai Joyce and Ronan O’Dwyer, Jack O'Connor despatched a clinical header from 8 yards to give the home side a 3-1 lead at the break.
The second half saw Mungret push hard to get back into the game but the chance was lost when they missed a penalty midway through the second half. The game was then put to bed when Christopher topped off an outstanding day, finishing from close range to complete his hattrick and seal the victory for the home side. Those to do well included Conor Arthur, Alex Keehan and man of the Match Chris Nwanko.
