U18 Girls League Match: Aisling-Annacotty 7 Ballylanders 0

Playing on a wet cold miserable night, the U18 Aisling-Annacotty Girls team had a comprehensive 7-0 win over the visiting Ballylanders side. Emma Costelloe opened the scoring when her long-range effort squirted past the Ballylanders' goalie. The home side dominated possession with the midfield of Emma Donohoe, Rachel O'Dell, and Costelloe creating many chances which Aisling Kennedy and Nicola Lammond were unfortunate not to convert. Eventually, the sustained pressure yielded 3 more 1st half goals with Aisling Kennedy scoring one and Emma Donohoe two, one of which was an unstoppable corner that swerved directly into the goal.

The 2nd half brought similar results. The back four of Aisling Doran, Jade O'Connor, Bronagh Kelly and Sarah Cleary yielded few scoring opportunities for the visiting side and goalie Abby McCarthy had to make only one fine save to preserve the shutout. Five of our U16 youngsters (Sarah Hall, Susan O'Shea, Amy Costelloe, Alicia O'Callaghan and Laoise Ni Aodha) came off the bench and maintained the team's high level of play. Emma Costelloe scored her 2nd goal with a superb long-range shot, Ni Aodha clinically finished in front of goal for the team's 6th goal and Emma Donohoe got her hat trick scoring with the last kick of the game.
