Match Reports

U15

Our U15A team progressed to the Round of 32 Draw of the National Cup with a 3-1 win against Killarney Celtic on Saturday afternoon in Annacotty. Boasting their returning U15 National League players Killarney made a dogged start and took the game to the home side. With both defences doing well a piece of neat skill from Evan O’Leary saw him upended in the visitor’s penalty area but a fantastic save by the visiting goalkeeper denied Christopher Nwanko. Their reprieve was short lived however and Kai Joyce, who caused the visitors problems all day, dispossessed the right back before firing the home team in front.

Killarney however, playing in the black strip of Aisling, were un-phased by the goal and as the home side struggled to get a firm grip on midfield Killarney levelled shortly before the break with an incisive run from their left winger who hit a thunderbolt past home keeper Colm McElwain.

The second half started with Aisling showing much more purpose and it was again Joyce who slipped through Christopher Nwanko to make up for his penalty miss by firing low past the advancing keeper. The introduction of Darragh Murray and Leon Kirrane for the home side was helping to turn the tables and both Nwanko and Murray should have added to the tally before Eoghan Burke fired home a deserved third goal for the home side. Killarney continued to press but a resolute defence and Colm McElwain ensured the game would end with a home victory.

This sets up an anxious wait to see who will come out of the draw on December 9th and also an away semi-final in the Regional Cup to Newcastlewest Town. Those to do well included Colm McElwain, Alex Keehan and Kai Joyce.

U13

Our Under 13A team won 5 – 0 away to Kilfrush Crusaders and also progress to the last 32 of the SFAI National Cup and into the South West Regional Cup play-offs.
