Match Reports

U16 Cup Semi-Final

Regional 0-1 Aisling Annacotty

Our U16A team maintained their excellent season with a 1-0 cup semi-final win away to Regional. Having held Regional scoreless in the previous two league encounters a third success was hard fought. Eoin Madigan and Conor Twomey have proven to be a mean defensive pair all season and Madigan proved the party spoiler again when making a last-ditch tackle to deny the home side and leave the game evenly balanced at half time. Indeed, the game remained tightly balanced as Regional ramped up the pressure however Alex Keehan, Ronan O’Dwyer, the aforementioned Madigan and Twomey, marshalled by Captain Mark Collins who put in a phenomenal shift in midfield, kept Regional at bay and inevitably the Aisling moment came. With time running out, neat play by Sean Fahey opened the Regional defence and created the opportunity for Eoghan Burke to fire home and send Aisling to a Cup Final show down with Fairview. Just reward for a team of guys who have worked hard for each other all year.

U15A League

Aisling Annacotty  7- 0 Summerville Rovers

Our U15A team clinched the league title on Monday evening with an impressive display against an ever improving and hardworking Summerville. A brace of goals for Eoghan Burke, Kai Joyce and Chris Nwanko set up the victory but the goal of the evening came when Robert O’Sullivan fired home following a driving run by Ronan O’Dwyer. Well done to entire squad who have gone through the season unbeaten so far. Reward for the dedicated effort of high levels of commitment, attendance at training, friendlies, hard work and patience.

U15A Cup Semi-Final

Aisling Annacotty 3 – 2 Fairview

Our U15A’s renewed rivalry with Fairview on Saturday morning with a hard fought 3-2 win. Fairview started brightly and were rewarded for their early efforts when after some neat attacking work fired home at the near post to gain the lead. Encouraged by this Fairview continued to press and force their game on the home side forcing Colm McElwain to go full length to keep the lead at one. The home side however, who have grown in stature as the season has progressed, forced their way back in to the game and when Kai Joyce was upended in the box, Evan O’Leary was the coolest man in Annacotty as he despatched the resulting penalty clinically. The home side continued to push forward from this point and but for the post and some excellent goalkeeping Fairview may have found themselves behind at the break. The second half again saw the home side start to dominate with Joyce and Nwanko causing the visitors problems as they drove at the heart of the Fairview defence and with just eight minutes remaining it was Chris Nwanko who broke inside form the right-hand side and his left footed drive found the net to give the home side a deserved lead. It seemed that his would settle the game but credit to Fairview who with four minutes to go capitalised on some defensive indecision by the home side to level the game. However, huge credit to our boys who with extra timing looming continued to push forward and with the clock red, Eoghan Burke unleashed an unstoppable twenty-five-yard piledriver to settle the game and send the team forward to a Cup Final showdown with Janesboro.

News

Our Youth team won the Ger Ryan Youth Cup final with a 2-1 victory over Pike Rovers. Goals from Tommy Canty and Ben Kennedy.

Our Junior D team secured promotion to Division 2b with a 6-1 victory over their promotion rivals, Parkville.

Our U13A team got through to their cup final after being pushed all the way by the U13B team. A super match that needed extra time to separate the teams, causing some anxiety for those trying to attend the table quiz and some of the table quiz hosts also.
